What Are Dental Veneers?
Veneers are thin shells that can be made from resin but are usually designed from tooth-colored ceramic, such as porcelain. They’re carefully customized to match or improve the size, tone, and shape of your natural teeth, then are cemented over their front surfaces to mask dental flaws.
This treatment can be an effective way to address a variety of aesthetic concerns, including chips, cracks, slight gaps, stubborn stains, and mild overcrowding, to help you achieve your smile goals so you look and feel like the most attractive and self-assured version of yourself.
The Process of Getting Veneers
Before proceeding, you must consult Dr. Bustillo-Gonzalez to determine whether you’re a good candidate. For example, these restorations are bonded to your natural teeth, so those with more severe damage or decay might not be ideal patients for this treatment.
Once our team has examined your mouth, we can provide a professional recommendation. If it’s for veneers, we’ll need to prepare your teeth by first numbing your mouth with a local anesthetic, then removing a small amount of enamel so they fit properly without looking bulky or causing misalignment.
Then, we’ll make accurate, mess-free digital impressions of your teeth, which we'll send to a dental laboratory, which will design your one-of-a-kind prosthetics. It can take a couple of weeks for them to arrive, so we’ll likely place a temporary set to shield your teeth during the wait. Once the finished veneers are delivered to our office, we’ll contact you for a fitting before cementing them in place and sending you home with a beautifully enhanced smile.
The Benefits of Veneers
These resilient restorations are a versatile way to address one or several cosmetic issues in your grin, which provide many incredible advantages, including:
- Enhance your appearance. They’re carefully customized to be just the right size, shape, and color to help you achieve your unique smile goals and boost your confidence.
- Versatile cosmetic solution. This single service can be used to address one or more concerns to perfect your appearance.
- Resilient materials. The ceramic they’re made from resists some damage and discoloration, and they're coated with a glaze that makes them durable enough to help shield the underlying teeth from harm.
- Long-lasting results. These shells can remain in great shape for 20+ years when properly cared for.
- Easy maintenance. Choosing foods carefully, sticking to your twice-daily dental hygiene routine, and scheduling routine exams and cleanings are all that’s needed to help protect your restorations.
Understanding the Cost of Veneers
Although our team is happy to work with a variety of insurance plans, many of these policies don’t include cosmetic services that are intended to improve your appearance more than your dental health, such as veneers. But there may be exceptions, or your coverage might include different aspects of your treatment, such as exams and imaging. If you have questions, please contact our office, and we will gladly help you maximize any available benefits.
If you’re uninsured, we’ve got your back! We also offer in-house memberships for businesses and individuals, which include routine preventive services and additional discounts on other services that we offer.
You’re also welcome to apply for a flexible payment plan through Cherry, CareCredit, or Alphaeon. These low- to no-interest options allow you to divide your final invoice into more manageable installments that can be easier on your budget.
